       ASSESSMENT AND TESTING

The National Curriculum provides programmes of study for children in each subject. These set out what each child in a particular year group or Key Stage should know, understand and be able to do. In class, the teachers assess children's work throughout each term, and in the summer term will assess using more formal tests.  All children in Reception class are assessed on entry using a Baseline Assessment, and again at the end of the foundation stage. Children in the summer term of Y1 take part in a national Phonics Test. Pupils in Year 2 and Year 6 sit end of Key Stage National Curriculum Standard Assessment Tasks (SATs). Assessments, whether summative or formative, check if children are in line with age related expectations from the National Curriculum.

The above attached document gives parents the information about the changes to assessment in line with the 2014 National Curriculum.
