St John’s Catholic Primary School has Jesus and his teachings at its heart, enabling our faith to deepen in a community where minds are challenged and thoughts are grown; where children are loved and valued as individuals, and where the talents of all are nurtured and celebrated within a safe, happy and caring environment.

End of year newsletter for parents. Thank you all for your prayers, messages and support.

A new version of the Jigsaw school app has been released which needs to be installed from the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store, in order to keep up-to-date with announcements and news. The new version has some extra features, explained on the above information sheet.

The children brought in story jars representing their favourite Bible story. They were all fabulous.

Our Shakespeare Ambassadors - Amelia and Seren - wrote to the Wainhomes Head Office to ask if they could help fund the building of an outdoor stage. Wainhomes donated £1,000 towards this project. Well done, Amelia and Seren!

'Pupils thrive personally as well as academically because of the outstanding range of deeply engaging experiences provided by the school, which help them learn about the world around them and develop individual talents. Pupils are encouraged from an early stage to develop their thinking skills and become independent in their learning. Teaching is of a consistently high quality because teachers have very high expectations of all pupils. They know pupils exceptionally well and set them challenging work which is adapted to meet the needs and interests of different pupils. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to school are outstanding.'

‘St John’s is an outstanding Catholic School, where the dedication and drive of the headteacher, staff and governors leads to continuous improvement and excellent outcomes for all pupils.’

‘There is a calm and welcoming atmosphere and the pupils demonstrate this in interactions with each other, staff and visitors; consequently, their behaviour is outstanding. The pupils live out their one school rule of ‘Love One Another’ and this is evident with all groups of pupils.’

‘The whole school community has a strong sense of belonging to the Catholic faith. The staff work very effectively to ensure that Christ is at the centre of all they do.’

‘Teaching is outstanding and is effective in enthusing pupils and ensuring that they learn extremely well.’

‘The school deploys support staff very effectively and they regularly take part in the teaching of lessons. They make a significant contribution to the learning and progress of these pupils.’

‘Standards of attainment in RE are excellent… all pupils… make excellent progress’

‘Parents appreciate the work of the school, as shown in the parents’ questionnaires… They state that their children are happy in school and they are happy with the provision of RE in the school.’
